Job Opportunity: Respiratory Therapist (Pediatrics)

Location: Mountainside, New Jersey
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Hours: 36 hours per week
Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
Schedule: Every other weekend (Saturday/Sunday)

Job Description

• Provide respiratory therapy services for infant, pediatric, and adolescent patients.
• Must have experience with ventilator management.
• Charting system used: Meditech.
• First-time travelers are accepted.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Pediatric Respiratory Therapist license in New Jersey.
• Minimum 1.5 years of Pediatric Respiratory Therapist experience, including experience within the last year.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Patient Population

• Infant, Pediatric, and Adolescent patients.

Required Documentation & Compliance

• Criminal background check within 30 days of start.
• Drug screen within 30 days of start.
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray as per facility requirements.
• Physical exam within the last 12 months, cleared to perform essential job functions.
• Respiratory medical clearance and on-site fit testing mandatory prior to start.
• Influenza vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required annually.
• Various competency exams and certifications as applicable (e.g., medication test, dysrhythmia/EKG competency, IV therapy exam).
• Color blindness testing if job tasks require color discrimination.
• Completion of facility-specific orientation and safety training.
• References: Two references within the last 2 years, including at least one managerial reference.
• Employment application or resume with 7 years of work history.
• Work history verification as required by New Jersey state regulations.

Additional Notes

• Scrub color is flexible.
• All required Return to Office (RTO) documentation must be submitted and approved before an offer is made.
• On-site fit testing is mandatory; candidates with facial hair must be clean-shaven unless a religious accommodation is approved.
• Candidates must bring all required documentation on the first day of orientation.
• Annual education sign-off and various CEU requirements must be completed and maintained.
• Pass/fail testing (e.g., pharmacology, EKG) required with remediation policies in place.
• Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB) certification required if working in ER, Pediatric ER, or Behavioral Health settings (not specifically required for this role unless assigned to those areas).

Prior Travel Experience

• First-time travelers are accepted; prior travel experience is not required.
