Required Certifications

• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
• AWHONN Intermediate

Certifications must be current and valid at the time of start (no expiration within 30 days of start).

Work Environment

• Teaching hospital with Level 1 Trauma designation
• Total staffed beds: 228
• Charting systems used: Centricity, Sorian, EDM, Lawson, Kronos
• Scrub color provided

Schedule Notes

• Every other weekend and every other holiday required
• Auto offer with manager interview option if necessary
• Block schedule accommodation: Exempt

Licensing Requirements

• Must hold an active Registered Nurse license valid in Washington, D.C.
• Primary source verification required
• License must not expire within 30 days of start

Health and Compliance Requirements

• Physical exam attesting ability to meet physical demands (updated annually)
• Fit mask testing within one year, updated annually (3M 1860, 1870+, Aura 9502 masks accepted)
• Immunizations and titers required:

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (vaccine or declination form)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
  • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella (titer or 2 vaccines, booster if needed)
  • Hepatitis B (vaccine series, titer, or declination form)
  • Varicella (titer or 2 vaccines, booster if needed)
• COVID-19 vaccination required (fully vaccinated prior to start; booster preferred but not required)
• Seasonal flu vaccine required (with medical/religious exemptions accepted subject to approval)
• Drug screening: 9-panel drug test within last 12 months (instant acceptable)

Background and Documentation

• 7-year criminal background check within one year of start, including all locations lived/worked in past 7 years
• Education verification through primary source
• Employment application including licensure, certifications, education, and employment history
• Proof of 2 clinical references or hospital evaluations
• Various facility-specific forms and acknowledgements required prior to start

Requirements/Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the District of Columbia
• Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery nursing experience
• Labor and Delivery experience within the last year
• ACLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• BLS certification issued by American Heart Association
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
• AWHONN Intermediate certification
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

• Parking is the responsibility of the clinician; public transportation access is available
• Candidates must carry government-issued photo ID during hours of service
• Floating within scope of practice may be required to meet facility needs
