Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Emergency Department

Location: Greensboro, North Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Summary

Seeking an experienced Registered Nurse for a travel contract position in an Emergency Department setting. The role involves working evening shifts (3 PM - 11:30 PM), Monday through Friday.


Schedule

  • 5 shifts per week, 8 hours each (5x8s)
  • Evenings: 3:00 PM to 11:30 PM
  • Monday through Friday

Required Experience

  • Minimum 2 years of nursing experience required
  • Acute hospital experience required
  • Experience in ICU, Medical-Surgical, PICU, Step-Down Unit, Progressive Care Unit, Intermediate Care, or Observation specialties required
  • Previous charge nurse experience required
  • NO first-time travelers accepted

Required Qualifications & Certifications

  • Valid RN license in North Carolina
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
  • BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • Case Management experience with at least 2 years total and within the last year
  • ICU (Intensive Care Unit) experience
  • PICU (Pediatric Intensive Care Unit) experience
  • Medical-Surgical experience
  • Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience
  • Experience in an Acute Care setting
  • Experience in charge nurse roles
  • Discharge planning experience
  • Needs assessment experience
  • Plan of care experience
  • CMS (Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services) regulatory experience
  • Completion of at least one travel assignment

Clinical Skills & Competencies

  • Case management and utilization review experience, including discharge planning, needs assessment, ordering durable medical equipment (DME), and care planning
  • Regulatory experience with CMS (Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services) guidelines
  • Ability to complete pass/fail EKG exam as part of credentialing
  • Experience with electronic medical records (EPIC)

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

  • Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID)
  • Social Security Card
  • Background check within 60 days covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in the past 7 years
  • Education verification and transcript/diploma as applicable
  • Foreign equivalency evaluation if education was obtained outside the U.S.
  • Negative 10-panel drug screen within 40 days of start
  • Immunizations and health documents including:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine proof
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 6 months
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
    • Varicella vaccination or positive titer
    • Hepatitis B titer or declination
    • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption
  • Fit mask test completed within the current calendar year (N95 respirators)
  • Fingerprinting required for certain positions (completed in North Carolina)
  • Employment application/resume with 7-year work history
  • Verification of employment history for the last 5 years
  • Two supervisory references required (one within 12 months, one within 24 months)

Additional Notes

  • Candidates must be flexible with scheduling and adhere to a zero-tolerance policy for tardiness and unexcused absences
  • Candidates must complete all compliance requirements by the deadline prior to start date
  • Candidates must acknowledge and pass required testing including EPIC and EKG exams
  • Badge photo must meet strict facility requirements (no selfies, solid color background, business casual or uniform attire)
  • Floating policy and contractor equipment acknowledgment forms must be reviewed and signed

Prior Travel Experience

  • NO first-time travelers accepted; prior travel experience is required

This position is ideal for experienced RNs with acute care and emergency department backgrounds who are comfortable with travel assignments and meeting strict compliance and credentialing standards.
