Job Description

• Position primarily in pre-anesthesia care, open to candidates with combined pre-anesthesia and PACU experience.
• Shift options include 8 or 10-hour shifts, with potential scheduling until 5 PM or later shifts (11 AM to 9:30 PM for 10-hour shifts, 1 PM to 9:30 PM for 8-hour shifts) if candidate can work DOSA and has PACU experience.
• Mandatory competency in phlebotomy and IV placement required.
• Patient ratio experience required: 1:3.
• Experience with EPIC electronic health records system required.
• Accepting first-time travelers; local candidates must live more than 75 miles away.
• Patient diagnoses include pre-op care for orthopedic, gynecological, general surgery, neurological cases, and pediatric ENT.
• Unit handles a wide variety of surgical specialties and procedures including bariatrics, cardiac, endoscopic, ENT, neuro/spine, orthopedic, plastics, robotics, urology, vascular, and pediatric cases.
• Skills required include ambulatory/outpatient care, PACU phases I and II, pre/post-operative care, blood product administration, PICC line care, procedural sedation, airway management, pain management, and many specialized surgical procedures.
• Scrubs are provided.

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in New York
• Minimum 3 years of PACU (Post Anesthesia Care) experience, including experience within the last year
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) issued by American Heart Association
• BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by American Heart Association
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) issued by American Heart Association
• NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) certification or experience
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Experience with Phase II Recovery
• Experience with Endo/Laparoscopic procedures
• Experience with ENT procedures
• Experience with Orthopedic procedures
• Experience with Podiatry procedures
• Experience with Robotics-assisted surgeries
• Experience with Vascular procedures, including Carotid Endarterectomy and vascular surgery
• Knowledge and experience with insulin protocols
• Experience with EPIC electronic health records system

Patient Care & Unit Details

• Patient types: Orthopedic, gynecological, general surgery, neurological, pediatric ENT.
• Procedures include but are not limited to: tonsillectomy, cholecystectomy, colon surgery, hysterectomy, mastectomy, vascular surgery, spine surgery, craniotomy, total joint replacement, and robotic surgeries.
• Skills in airway assessment, ventilator care, chest tube management, sedation monitoring, and post-epidural care.
• Experience with pain assessment and management, including PCA pump and narcotics/opioid analgesics.
• Familiarity with stroke scale, circulation checks, and malignant hyperthermia protocols.
