Job Opportunity: Medical Surgical Float Nurse

Location: Huntington, West Virginia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

• Strong orthopedic experience preferred.
• Floating within scope of practice to meet facility needs is required.
• No call requirement.
• Weekend requirement: Must work 4 Saturdays and 4 Sundays every 8-week schedule.
• Schedule is sent in 8-week increments; block scheduling is generally not accommodated.
• Travelers may request standard or holiday time off (only one of the three major holidays), subject to approval.
• Local candidates within 50 miles are not accepted.
• Pending licenses are not accepted.
• First-time travelers accepted if experienced with Cerner electronic charting system.
• Scrub color: Black scrubs or facility T-shirt; surgery requires changing into provided surgery scrubs.
• Charting system: Cerner.
• Free parking available for travelers.

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in West Virginia
• Minimum 1 year of Medical Surgical nursing experience within the last year
• BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Additional Information

• This is a short-term acute care, Level II trauma, major teaching hospital.
• Total staffed beds: 330.
• Locals within 50 miles are not accepted.
• Floating may be required within the scope of practice.
• No call responsibilities.
• Weekend coverage required as specified.
• First-time travelers accepted with Cerner experience.
