Job Opportunity: Medical Surgical Registered Nurse
Location: Pocatello, Idaho
Employment Type: Travel/Contract

Job Details
- Shift: 3x12 hour day shifts
- Patient Ratios: 1:6
- Unit Size: 48 beds/rooms
- Float: Yes, with required competencies
- Patient Diagnoses Include:
- Sepsis
- CIWA (Clinical Institute Withdrawal Assessment)
- Confusion, Altered Mental Status (AMS)
- COPD
- Post-operative care
- Acute Kidney Injury (AKI)
- Trauma
- Respiratory failure
- Bowel obstruction
- Pyelonephritis
- Cardiac conditions
- Diabetes
- Gastrointestinal conditions
- Isolation precautions
- Suicidal ideation with medical indications
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Idaho
- Minimum 1 year of Medical-Surgical nursing experience, with experience within the last year
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Experience with Epic electronic medical records system
Essential Job Functions
- Apply the Nursing Process across all age groups: infants, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics
- Thorough documentation following regulatory and hospital standards
- Maintain clinical competencies and support professional development
- Work varied shifts including weekends and holidays
- Provide safe, patient-centered care in a fast-paced environment
Skills and Abilities
- Good judgment and patience in patient care
- Ability to work in a busy, changing environment with evolving patient safety requirements
- Proficient computer skills including Word, Excel, Outlook, and electronic medical records
- Strong organizational and workload management skills
- Effective interpersonal and verbal communication skills
- Advanced math skills
- Critical thinking, problem-solving, teamwork, and decision-making abilities
Compliance and Documentation Requirements
- Background checks including 7-year history and education verification
- Drug screening (10-panel) within 90 days of start
- Physical exam within 12 months of start
- Fit mask test within 1 year of start, renewed annually
- Immunizations and titers as required:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (positive titer or vaccination)
- Hepatitis B (positive titer, series, or declination)
- Varicella (positive titer, vaccination, or documented history)
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season
- Photo for badge
- Driver’s license or state ID
- Employment application and skills checklist
Additional Notes
- Must be able to pass competency exams as applicable
- Must be able to work in compliance with all hospital policies and safety protocols
- Prior travel experience is preferred but not mandatory
This position offers an opportunity to work in a diverse medical surgical environment with a variety of patient diagnoses and requires a motivated RN with strong clinical skills and adaptability.
