Registered Nurse - ICU

Location: Odessa, Texas
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Critical Care Registered Nurse (ICU)
  • Start date preferred within the next 3-5 weeks
  • Must be willing to float to Medical-Surgical/Telemetry, Emergency Room (for critical care holds)

Required Certifications & Training

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA only (Instructor, Provider, or RQI acceptable)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA only (Instructor, Provider, or RQI acceptable)
  • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) or TCAR
  • NIH Stroke Certification (6 hours total stroke education required; can be provided if needed)
  • EKG course completion (can be provided if needed)

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Texas
  • ICU (Intensive Care Unit) experience, minimum 1 year, with experience within the last year
  • ACLS issued by American Heart Association
  • BLS certification
  • PALS issued by American Heart Association
  • NRP certification
  • CHEMO certification
  • TNCC certification
  • EFM certification
  • Tech Cert Verification - National
  • ENPC certification
  • NIHSS certification
  • Pass/Fail Testing (EKG/Medication)
  • Acknowledgement of Pass/Fail Testing
  • NURSYS Verification (RN, LPN/LVN, AP)
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
  • Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement

Background & Compliance Requirements

  • 7-year background check required within 30 days of start; updated annually
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start
  • Government-issued photo ID required
  • I9 or attestation required
  • E-Verify or attestation required

Health & Immunization Requirements

  • Physical exam within 1 year of start (must be completed within 72 hours of contract signing)
  • Fit mask test within 1 year; updated annually (N-95 or equivalent required; PAPR not accepted)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year (chest X-ray required for positive responders)
  • Immunizations or positive titers required for:
    • Rubeola (Measles)
    • Mumps
    • Rubella
    • Hepatitis B (positive titer, series, or declination accepted)
    • Varicella
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
  • Seasonal flu vaccine or declination required during flu season (Oct-April)
  • COVID initial series or facility-specific declination required (annual boosters not required)
  • Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start

Competency & Testing

  • Medication/Pharmacology competency exam required (3 attempts allowed)
  • Pass/fail testing for EKG and medication knowledge required

Additional Requirements

  • 2 professional references within 3 years of start
  • Resume or employment application required
  • Skills checklist updated annually
  • Completion of facility-specific orientation, safety, HIPAA, and compliance training modules within 72 hours of signing contract
  • Acknowledgement of pass/fail testing required

Notes

  • Candidate must be prepared to complete all required documentation and training prior to or shortly after start date
  • Floating to other units is mandatory as part of the assignment

This position is ideal for a critical care RN with current certifications and flexibility to work in multiple acute care settings.
