Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - CVICU

Location: Madison, Wisconsin
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

• Work schedule: Day/Night shifts, 8 or 12 hours (0700-1930 and 1900-0730)
• Every other weekend required, some holidays, no on-call
• Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) experience required
• Experience with NextStage CVVH machine required
• Experience in Cardiothoracic Surgery and/or Acuity Adaptable area preferred
• Basic Arrhythmia experience required; must pass Telemetry test prior to start

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Wisconsin
• Minimum of 1 year of CVICU experience within the last year
• American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• American Heart Association (AHA) Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Experience and knowledge of NextStage CVVH machine

Experience

• Specialty: Registered Nurse in CVICU
• Minimum years of experience: 1 year CVICU experience within the last year
• Prior travel experience: Not required

Certifications & Testing

• Telemetry testing (Adult or Pediatric depending on unit) required before start and annually thereafter
• Pass/Fail testing for EKG/Medication competency required
• Medication/Pharmacology competency exam as applicable
• Orientation Safety Manual acknowledgment required
• State license primary source verification within 30 days of start and upon expiration
• NURSYS verification within 30 days of start date

Background & Compliance Requirements

• Background check within 90 days prior to start, including SSN trace, county, nationwide, and sex offender searches
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required upon hire and monthly thereafter
• Education verification as applicable
• Wisconsin Caregiver Screening required within 90 days of start
• Drug screening required per standard clinical guidelines
• Physical exam (Aya standard) recommended but not facility required

Health & Immunization Requirements

• Tuberculosis (TB) testing and questionnaire required and updated annually
• Proof of immunizations or immunity for:

  • Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR)
  • Varicella (chickenpox)
  • Hepatitis B (vaccination series or declination form)
  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap
  • Seasonal Flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption (annual)
  • Meningococcal vaccine or declination if working in Microbiology (within 5 years)

• Photo for badge required (passport-style, no selfies or headwear except religious/medical)
• Various facility-specific forms and acknowledgments required prior to start
• References: 2 clinical references within the last 3 years (Aya standard)

This position is ideal for experienced CVICU Registered Nurses with strong critical care skills, familiarity with advanced cardiovascular equipment, and the ability to work rotating shifts in a high-acuity environment.
