Registered Nurse (RN) – Med Surg / Oncology
Location: Saint Louis, Missouri
Employment Type: Travel Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Nights (1900 - 0730)
Weekly Hours: 36 or 48 (must be specified on submission)
Weekend Hours: No more than every other weekend (scheduled based on unit needs)
Call Requirements: As required by facility
Job Summary
Provide direct patient care on a Med Surg Oncology unit with approximately 15 beds. Patient population includes oncology, some neuro overflow, medical patients, and end-of-life care. Utilize the nursing process for assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care. Coordinate care with ancillary departments and maintain patient confidentiality and rights.
Unit Information
- Patient Ratios: 1:5 or 1:6
- Equipment: Alaris pumps, NOVA glucometers, remote telemetry
- EMR System: EPIC
- Float Requirements: As needed within the Med Surg service line
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Missouri
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Minimum 1 year of Med Surg inpatient experience
- Minimum 1 year of oncology experience within the last year
- Experience in an inpatient setting
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
Preferred Qualifications
- ONS Chemotherapy Certification
Working Conditions & Physical Requirements
- Stand and walk most of the shift
- Frequent bending, stooping, lifting, and turning patients with assistance
- Ability to push, pull, grip up to 50 lbs, pinch up to 15 lbs, kneel, crouch, and crawl minimally
- Exposure to blood and body fluids
- Must be flexible to work varying schedules and shifts as needed
Additional Information
- Flu vaccination is required for all travelers from November 1 through April 1; declinations are not accepted
- Night shift orientation occurs on day shift; availability for the entire orientation week is required
- Team player with reliability and flexibility is preferred
