Description

Travel Registered Nurse - Medical Surgical

Location: Athens, Georgia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 14 weeks

Job Summary

Patient Population: Adults to Geriatrics
Unit Focus: Primarily pre/post-surgical and trauma care
Common Surgeries: Thyroidectomy, mastectomy, GI surgeries
Trauma Types: Motor vehicle accidents, gunshot wounds, stabbings, falls
Other Diagnoses: Alcohol withdrawal, COPD, sepsis
Patient Care: May include management of naso-gastric tubes, chest tubes, drains, ostomy/urostomy, and indwelling urinary catheters
Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: Approximately 1:5-6
Unit Size: 29 rooms
Systems Used: Epic, Pyxis, SBAR
Scrub Color: Navy Blue
Return to Office (RTO): Maximum 7 days
Weekend Schedule: Every other weekend
Floating: Yes, within facility and scope of practice as needed
Call Requirements: None
Holiday Work: Required to work major holidays during assignment (Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Day, New Year’s Eve/Day)

Required Qualifications

Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Georgia
Minimum 1 year of Medical-Surgical nursing experience within the last year
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Additional Information

Floating within the facility may be required as per scope of practice
Orientation hours depend on contract length
Full compliance with all requirements is necessary to start on time; delays in compliance may result in assignment start delays
Locals accepted at the same rate
No call responsibilities

Prior Travel Experience

Not explicitly required; 1st time travelers are accepted
