Job Opportunity: Pediatric Acute Care Float Pool Registered Nurse
Location: Charlottesville, Virginia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Float pool position covering various pediatric units including:
- PICU (Pediatric Intensive Care Unit)
- NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit)
- Pediatric Med/Surg
- Pediatric PACU (Post-Anesthesia Care Unit)
- Pediatric ED boarders
- Postpartum / Mother-Baby units
- Must have experience in PICU and NICU and be comfortable working with pediatric patients.
- Previous NICU/PICU float pool experience is considered.
- Night shifts, 36 or 48 hours per week.
- Block scheduling cannot be accommodated or guaranteed.
- Every other weekend and every other holiday required.
- Up to 40 hours can be approved for time off.
- Must adhere to float pool policies.
- Epic electronic health record experience required.
Requirements/Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Virginia
- Minimum 2 years of PICU (Pediatric Intensive Care Unit) experience, including experience within the last year
- NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit) experience
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification
- Dr. Brown's Infant Driven Feeding certification (can be submitted pending)
- Associate of Science in Nursing or Associate Degree in Nursing
- Experience with Epic electronic health record system
Required Certifications
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
- Dr. Brown's Infant Driven Feeding Certification (can be submitted pending)
Required Experience
- Minimum 2 years of PICU experience required.
- Pediatric PACU experience highly preferred.
Licensure
- Virginia nursing license required; can submit with license pending.
Additional Requirements
- Must complete various background checks including 7-year criminal history and education verification.
- Required health documents include physical exam, immunizations (Tdap, MMR, Varicella, Hepatitis B), TB testing, drug screening, and flu vaccination.
- Pass/fail cardiac rhythm assessment may be required during orientation.
- References and clinical skills checklists required.
- Compliance with professional appearance and other facility-specific policies.
