Registered Nurse - Pediatric Float Pool
Location: Charlottesville, Virginia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Float pool position covering various pediatric units including PICU, NICU, pediatric med-surg, pediatric PACU, pediatric ED boarders, and postpartum/mother-baby units.
- Must have experience in PICU and NICU and be comfortable working with pediatric patients.
- Prior NICU/PICU float pool experience is considered.
- Night shifts, 36 or 48 hours per week.
- Block scheduling cannot be accommodated or guaranteed.
- Schedule includes every other weekend and every other holiday.
- Up to 40 hours can be approved for time off.
- Must have experience with Epic electronic health records system.
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Virginia (can submit with license pending)
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Minimum 2 years of PICU (Pediatric Intensive Care Unit) experience, including experience within the last year
- NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit) experience
- Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- Current ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- Current PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification
- Current NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification
- Infant Driven Feeding certification (or pending submission)
- Experience with Epic electronic health records system
Certifications & Compliance
- Current BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NRP certifications.
- Infant-Driven Feeding™ certification (or pending submission).
- Physical exam within 12 months attesting ability to meet physical demands.
- Required immunizations and health screenings including:
- Tdap vaccination (no exemptions allowed)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray as applicable
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR) vaccination or positive titer
- Hepatitis B surface antibody titer or antigen titer as required
- Varicella vaccination or titer (declination accepted but must be documented)
- Seasonal flu vaccination (no exemptions accepted)
- Drug screening within 2 months of start, including marijuana and fentanyl panels.
- Background checks including 7-year criminal history, education verification, and abuse registry search if assigned to certain units.
- Fingerprinting required for behavioral health assignments.
- Compliance with professional appearance and other facility-specific guidelines.
Schedule & Work Environment
- Night shifts only.
- Floating across multiple pediatric units.
- Every other weekend and holiday coverage.
- No block scheduling guarantee.

- Must be comfortable working in a fast-paced pediatric critical care float pool environment.
- Clinical review and offer process includes manager approval after passing clinical screening.
