Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Pediatric Float Pool

Job Description

• Position in Pediatric Float Pool covering various pediatric units including:

  • PICU (Pediatric Intensive Care Unit)
  • NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit)
  • Pediatric Med/Surg
  • Pediatric PACU
  • Pediatric ED boarders
  • Postpartum / Mother-Baby units
• Must have experience in PICU and NICU and be comfortable working with pediatric patients.
• Prior NICU/PICU float pool experience is considered.
• Night shifts, 36 or 48 hours per week.
• Block scheduling cannot be accommodated or guaranteed.
• Schedule includes every other weekend and every other holiday.
• Time off approval up to 40 hours.
• Must have experience with Epic electronic health record system.

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Virginia (or can be submitted pending)
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Minimum 2 years of PICU (Pediatric Intensive Care Unit) experience, including experience within the last year
• NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit) experience
• Comfortable and experienced working with pediatric patients
• Certifications required:

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
  • Infant-Driven Feeding certification
• Experience with Epic electronic health record system

Additional Requirements

• Must adhere to float pool policies.
• Prior travel experience is not explicitly required.
• Must be able to pass clinical review for auto-offer process.
• Background checks including 7-year criminal history, education verification, and other standard screenings required.
• Immunizations and health screenings required, including:

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray
  • Measles, Mumps, Rubella vaccinations or titers
  • Hepatitis B surface antibody titer
  • Varicella vaccination or titer
  • Seasonal flu vaccination (no exemptions)
• Drug screening required within 2 months of start and updated annually.
• Physical exam within 12 months attesting ability to meet physical demands.
• Professional appearance guidelines must be reviewed and acknowledged.
• Pass/fail cardiac rhythm assessment required during orientation for adult inpatient RN positions and Mother-Baby units (not required for this pediatric float pool role).
