Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Pediatric Float Pool
Location: Charlottesville, Virginia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Position in Pediatric Float Pool covering various pediatric units including:
- PICU (Pediatric Intensive Care Unit)
- NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit)
- Pediatric Med/Surg
- Pediatric PACU
- Pediatric ED boarders
- Postpartum / Mother-Baby units
- Must have experience in PICU and NICU and be comfortable working with pediatric patients.
- Prior NICU/PICU float pool experience is considered.
- Night shifts, 36 or 48 hours per week.
- Block scheduling cannot be accommodated or guaranteed.
- Schedule includes every other weekend and every other holiday.
- Time off approval up to 40 hours.
- Must have experience with Epic electronic health record system.
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Virginia (or can be submitted pending)
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Minimum 2 years of PICU (Pediatric Intensive Care Unit) experience, including experience within the last year
- NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit) experience
- Comfortable and experienced working with pediatric patients
- Certifications required:
- BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
- Infant-Driven Feeding certification
- Experience with Epic electronic health record system
Additional Requirements
- Must adhere to float pool policies.
- Prior travel experience is not explicitly required.
- Must be able to pass clinical review for auto-offer process.
- Background checks including 7-year criminal history, education verification, and other standard screenings required.
- Immunizations and health screenings required, including:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella vaccinations or titers
- Hepatitis B surface antibody titer
- Varicella vaccination or titer
- Seasonal flu vaccination (no exemptions)
- Drug screening required within 2 months of start and updated annually.
- Physical exam within 12 months attesting ability to meet physical demands.
- Professional appearance guidelines must be reviewed and acknowledged.
- Pass/fail cardiac rhythm assessment required during orientation for adult inpatient RN positions and Mother-Baby units (not required for this pediatric float pool role).
