Job Description

• Float pool position covering various pediatric units including:

  • PICU (Pediatric Intensive Care Unit)
  • NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit)
  • Pediatric Med/Surg
  • Pediatric PACU (Post-Anesthesia Care Unit)
  • Pediatric ED boarders
  • Postpartum / Mother-Baby units
• Must have experience in PICU and NICU and be comfortable working with pediatric patients.
• Prior NICU/PICU float pool experience is considered.
• Night shifts, 36 or 48 hours per week.
• Block scheduling cannot be accommodated or guaranteed.
• Schedule includes every other weekend and every other holiday.
• Up to 40 hours can be approved for time off.
• Must adhere to float pool policies.
• Epic electronic health record experience required.

Required Certifications

• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
• Dr. Brown's Infant Driven Feeding Certification (can be pending at start)

Required Experience

• Minimum 2 years of PICU experience required.
• Pediatric PACU experience highly preferred.

License Requirements

• Must have a valid Virginia nursing license or be able to submit with Virginia license pending.

Additional Requirements

• Must pass clinical review before offer.
• Must comply with all background checks, health screenings, and immunization requirements as per healthcare standards.
• Physical exam within 12 months attesting ability to meet physical demands of the position.
• Required immunizations and health screenings include:

  • Tdap
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray
  • Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR) immunity
  • Hepatitis B immunity
  • Varicella immunity
  • Seasonal flu vaccination (no exemptions accepted)
• Drug screening required within 2 months of start and updated annually.
• References and clinical skills verification required.

Prior Travel Experience

• Not explicitly required.

This position is ideal for experienced pediatric critical care nurses comfortable with a variety of pediatric specialty units and flexible scheduling.
