Registered Nurse (Stepdown) - Travel Assignment
Location: Saint Louis, Missouri
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Nights (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
Weekly Hours: 36 or 48 (must be specified on submission)
Weekend Hours: Every other weekend as required
Call Requirements: None
Job Summary
Provide direct patient care on a stepdown unit with a focus on respiratory care. Utilize the nursing process for assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care. Coordinate care with ancillary departments and maintain patient confidentiality and rights.
Unit Information
- Unit Type: Stepdown (Med Surg Intermediate)
- Number of Beds: 22
- Patient Ratios: 1 nurse to 3-4 patients
- Patient Population: Respiratory failure, alcohol overdose, GI bleed, electrolyte imbalance, COPD, cancer
- Equipment Used: Trach, Ventilator, VAPO, BiPAP
- Electronic Medical Record: EPIC
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Missouri
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Minimum 1 year of experience in Progressive Care Unit (PCU) / Stepdown nursing within the last year
- Experience in an inpatient setting
- BLS certification
- ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Experience with respiratory care including trach and ventilator management

Work Environment & Physical Requirements
- Frequent standing and walking
- Bending, stooping, lifting, and turning patients with assistance
- Ability to push, pull, grip up to 50 lbs., pinch up to 15 lbs., kneel, crouch, and crawl minimally
- Exposure to blood and body fluids
- Must be able to work varying schedules and shifts as needed
Additional Information
- Flu vaccination required from November 1 to April 1; no declinations accepted
- Night shift orientation occurs during day shift; availability for full orientation week required
- Float to similar or lower acuity units as needed
- Dress code: Black scrubs only
