Registered Nurse - NICU
Location: Charlottesville, Virginia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Nights
Schedule: 3 weekends out of every 6-week scheduling period; every other holiday
Time Off: Maximum 40 hours approved; no time off approved during first two weeks of assignment
Job Description
- Clinical review and auto offer process
- Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) specialty
- Certification in Dr. Brown's Infant Driven Feeding required (can submit with pending certification)
Required Certifications
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
- Dr. Brown's Infant Driven Feeding Certification (required or pending)
- ACLS, PALS, TNCC, EFM, and other certifications may be required depending on unit specifics (verify with recruiter)
- Chemotherapy certification not applicable for NICU
- Pass/Fail Testing during orientation required for adult inpatient RN positions and Mother-Baby units (not required for NICU)
License Requirements
- Valid Virginia RN license (can submit with license pending)
- Primary source verification required within 30 days of start
- NURSYS verification required

Scheduling & Time Off

Background & Compliance Requirements
- 7-year criminal background check within 60 days of start, updated annually
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start and updated every 30 days
- Education verification required; BSN preferred, ASN minimum
- Drug testing within 2 months of start, 10-panel including marijuana and fentanyl, updated annually
- Immunizations and health screenings required:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap
- 2-step TB test or equivalent (Qgold accepted, Tspot not accepted)
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (2 vaccines or positive titer required)
- Hepatitis B surface antibody titer required
- Varicella (2 vaccines or titer required)
- Seasonal flu vaccination required (no exemptions)
- Physical exam within 12 months attesting ability to meet physical demands of position
- Fingerprinting required for Behavioral Health only (not NICU)
Additional Notes
- Candidate must carry government-issued photo ID during hours of service
- Professional appearance guidelines must be reviewed and acknowledged
- Various facility-specific forms and compliance documents must be completed prior to start
- Pass/Fail cardiac rhythm assessment not required for NICU
- CPI certification required only for Behavioral Health nurses (not NICU)
References & Evaluations
- Proof of 2 clinical references required
- Performance evaluations required if previously worked with the agency over 1 year
