Registered Nurse – Telemetry

Location: Salem, Massachusetts
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (LTA)
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

• Work primarily on a 37-bed medical telemetry unit caring for patients with cardiac and related conditions.
• Patient population includes CHF, Atrial Fibrillation, Pulmonary Embolism, Pneumonia, and patients post pacemaker and cardiac catheterization.
• Patients may be on cardiac drips such as Cardizem, Nitroglycerin, Lasix, and Heparin.
• Night shift position with 36 hours per week, including every other weekend (EOW).
• Must be able to read and interpret telemetry strips.
• Floating to other applicable units may be required.
• Night shifts do not rotate; day shifts may rotate between different time blocks but rotation frequency is low.
• Nurse-to-patient ratio:

  • Day/Evening shifts: 1:4 (max 5)
  • Night shift: 1:5-6
• Charting system: EPIC

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Massachusetts.
• Minimum 2 years of telemetry nursing experience, with telemetry experience within the last year.
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
• BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or Red Cross.
• Ability to read and interpret telemetry strips.

Additional Requirements

• Must provide documentation of:

  • Recent TB test (within 3 months) or negative QuantiFERON/T-spot blood test.
  • Health statement signed by a licensed provider within the past year.
  • Fit test for N95 respirator within the past year (no exemptions allowed).
  • Respirator medical clearance attestation if fit test required.
• Background checks including criminal, CORI, SSN trace, national sex offender, and exclusion checks required prior to start.
• Required immunizations or proof of immunity:

  • MMR (measles, mumps, rubella)
  • Hepatitis B (strongly preferred)
  • Tdap (preferred within 10 years)
• Skills checklist, medication exam, and dysrhythmia exam must be completed within one year prior to submission.
• Resume with 7 years of work history and 2 professional references required for submission.

Work Environment

• Unit includes a mix of private, semi-private, triple, and quadruple rooms, including one negative pressure room.
• Patients admitted from ED, other units, or directly by physicians.
• Occasional surgical patients on the unit.
• Free on-site parking available.
