Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Emergency Room

Location: Macon, Georgia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 12 weeks


Job Summary

Seeking a Registered Nurse for the Emergency Room unit. The patient population ranges from neonates to geriatrics. The unit uses EPIC as the system.


Required Experience

  • Minimum 1 year of nursing experience.
  • First-time travelers are accepted (no prior travel experience required).

Required Certifications

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • NIH Stroke Certification (if applicable per unit)
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
  • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) preferred
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) if working with neonates
  • STABLE certification required for NICU assignments
  • Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) course required within a few months of hire (no renewal required)

License Requirements

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license for the state of Georgia
  • State license verification required within 30 days prior to start
  • Annual NURSYS verification required

Work Schedule & Requirements

  • Weekend shifts: Every other weekend
  • No call requirements
  • Floating within the facility based on skillset
  • Return to Office (RTO) maximum 7 days
  • Holiday work expectations:
    • If 1 major holiday falls during assignment, expected to work it
    • If 2 major holidays fall, expected to work both
    • If 3 major holidays fall, expected to work 2 of them
  • Major holidays include Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Day, New Year’s Eve/Day

Compliance & Onboarding

  • Full compliance with all requirements is mandatory to start on time
  • Non-compliance may result in a 2-week delay due to orientation scheduling
  • Background check and education verification must be completed prior to start
  • Physical exam required within 12 months of start
  • Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 12 months required (can start with TB test pending if questionnaire on file)
  • Drug screening (10-panel) required within 60 days of start
  • Immunizations/vaccinations required or documented:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (highly recommended)
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) - 2 vaccines or positive titer
    • Hepatitis B - surface antibody titer or signed declination
    • Varicella - 2 vaccines or positive titer
    • Flu vaccine or declination required during flu season

Competency Exams (Aya Required)

  • Medication/Pharmacology competency exam
  • Color Blind Testing (must score 80% or higher)
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam (for applicable units)
  • General competency exam for nursing

Additional Requirements

  • Two clinical references required
  • Skills checklist updated within the last 12 months
  • Verification of most recent work history required (can be pending at start with proof it is in process)

Requirements/Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Georgia
  • Minimum 1 year of Emergency Department (ED) experience within the last year
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • ACLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • PALS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification or competency

This position offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic ER environment with a diverse patient population and requires a motivated RN with appropriate certifications and compliance readiness.
