Registered Nurse - PACU
Location: Cape Girardeau, Missouri
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Minimum 2 years of PACU experience required (2 years specialty experience).
- Work schedule: Monday-Friday.
- Call requirements:
- 1-2 weeknight call shifts every 2 weeks
- One weekend call every 8-10 weeks (weekend includes Friday through Monday 7:00 AM)
- Two RNs on call with a 30-minute response time to arrive at the hospital when called in.
- Shifts vary and may include:
- 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM
- 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM
- 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM
- 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM (including extended "dot" shifts where nurses stay longer if needed)
- 9:30 AM - 6:00 PM (including extended "dot" shifts)
- Nurses on call are responsible for sending staff home when no longer needed.
- No evening shift available to relieve staff.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Missouri.
- Minimum 2 years of Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) nursing experience, including experience within the last year.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
- Acknowledgement of pass/fail testing, including EKG and medication competency exams.
- State License verification (primary source) required.
- NURSYS verification required.
Background & Compliance Requirements
- 7-year criminal background check within 60 days of start, including all locations lived/worked in past 7 years and all aliases.
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 60 days of start.
- Education verification of highest level completed.
- Missouri state-specific background search required within 60 days of start.
Competencies & Testing
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam as applicable.
- Color blindness test (online accepted).
- Core competency exams as applicable.
- EPIC Pass/Fail testing administered onsite (2 attempts allowed).
- Skills checklist annually required.
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start.
- Mask fit test within 12 months of start (specific mask models required).
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine within 10 years if applicable.
- Negative TB test (PPD, QGOLD, or TSPOT) within 1 year of start; positive TB requires chest x-ray within 5 years and TB questionnaire within 1 year.
- TB questionnaire required annually regardless of TB test result.
- Immunizations or positive titers required for:
- Measles (Rubeola)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B (vaccine series, positive titer, or declination)
- Varicella
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start.
- Seasonal flu vaccination required during flu season (September 1 - March 31) or approved exemption.
Additional Requirements
- Two professional references required.
- Employment application required.
- Clear, passport-style photo for badge.
- Completion of facility-specific e-learning within 3-5 days of receiving instructions.

- Prior travel experience is not explicitly required for this position.
