Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Emergency Room

Location: Charlottesville, Virginia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Details

• Schedule includes weekends; specific days will vary based on staffing needs
• Block scheduling cannot be guaranteed
• Work every other holiday
• Shift: Mids (36 or 48 hours)
• Maximum 40 hours approved for time off
• Must have at least 2 years of nursing experience
• Experience requirements:

  • Minimum 2 years at level 2, or
  • Minimum 1 year at level 1, including some pediatric experience

Required Certifications

• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
• TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) — must have before start (pending submissions accepted)

License Requirements

• Valid Virginia Registered Nurse (RN) license or ability to submit with license pending

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Virginia
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department (ED) experience, including at least 1 year within the last year
• Experience working with Level 1 or Level 2 Trauma patients (at least 1 year Level 1 or 2 years Level 2 experience)
• Experience working with pediatric patients
• ACLS certification issued by American Red Cross or American Heart Association
• BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification
• TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) certification

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

• Background checks including 7-year criminal history and education verification
• Drug screening (10-panel including marijuana and fentanyl) within 2 months of start, updated annually
• Immunizations and health screenings including:

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray (2-step PPD required)
  • Measles, Mumps, Rubella (2 vaccines or positive titer)
  • Hepatitis B surface antibody titer (positive required)
  • Varicella (2 vaccines or titer)
  • Seasonal flu vaccination (required during flu season)
• Physical exam within 12 months of start attesting ability to meet job demands
• Professional appearance guidelines review and acknowledgment
• Pass/Fail cardiac rhythm assessment during orientation (for adult inpatient RN positions)
