Registered Nurse (Stepdown) - Travel Assignment

Location: Saint Louis, Missouri
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Nights (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
Weekly Hours: 36 or 48 (must be specified on submission)
Weekend Hours: Every other weekend as required
Call Requirements: None

Job Summary

Provide direct patient care on a respiratory-heavy Stepdown unit with 22 beds. Care for patients with respiratory failure, alcohol-related conditions, overdose, GI bleed, electrolyte imbalances, COPD, and cancer. Utilize nursing processes including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Coordinate care with ancillary departments and maintain patient confidentiality and rights.

Unit & Patient Care Details

• Patient Ratio: 1 nurse to 3-4 patients
• Equipment used: Tracheostomy care, ventilators, VAPO, BiPAP
• Electronic Medical Record system: EPIC
• Float Requirements: May float to similar or lower acuity units as needed

Required Qualifications

• Current RN license eligible or active in Missouri
• BLS and ACLS certifications from the American Heart Association
• Minimum 1 year of Stepdown nursing experience, inpatient only
• Experience with respiratory care including trach and ventilator management

Preferred Qualifications

• Teamwork, dependability, and flexibility

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements

• Stand and walk most of the shift
• Frequent bending, stooping, lifting, and turning patients with assistance
• Ability to push, pull, grip up to 50 lbs, pinch up to 15 lbs, kneel, crouch, and crawl minimally
• Exposure to blood and body fluids is a high risk

Additional Information

• Flu vaccination is required for all travelers from November 1 through April 1; declinations are not accepted
• Night shift orientation occurs on day shift; availability for the entire orientation week is required
• Dress code: Black scrubs only
