Job Opportunity: Medical Surgical Registered Nurse (RN)

Location: Lancaster, South Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 12 weeks

Position Details

• Specialty: Medical Surgical Registered Nurse (Med/Surg RN)
• Shift: Primarily 4x12 hour night shifts (6:45 PM - 7:15 AM); 3x12 shifts may be considered
• Patient Ratios: 1:6 to 1:7
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• On-call: Not required
• Floating: Required to float within scope to meet facility needs, including between like units

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in South Carolina
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Minimum 3 years of Medical Surgical nursing experience, with experience within the last year
• Completion of at least one travel nursing assignment
• BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• ACLS certification issued by American Heart Association
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification

Additional Requirements

• Completion of all assigned orientation and compliance modules prior to start date
• Attendance at staff meetings is mandatory
• Must upload COVID vaccination records if available; if not, a vaccination declination form is required
• Flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season
• Physical exam and various immunizations/vaccinations (e.g., Tdap, Hepatitis B, TB screening) must be current
• Drug screening (10-panel) required within 90 days of start
• Proof of 2 clinical references and complete employment application/resume required

Scheduling & Other Notes

• Block schedule accommodations may be requested but are not guaranteed
• Facility may call off 1 shift per 2 weeks
• Local candidates considered but at a reduced rate
• During hurricane season (June-November), staff may be assigned to emergency response teams; new or extended assignments during peak months (August-September) are discouraged if this is a concern

Compliance & Documentation Highlights

• Background checks including multi-state and national criminal searches required within 1 year of start
• Education verification or diploma/transcripts may be required as placeholder if verification is pending
• State-specific Medicaid exclusion checks required
• Various facility-specific documents and acknowledgments must be signed prior to start (e.g., Code of Conduct, Confidentiality Agreement, Job Description)
• Radiation badge required only for certain specialties (not applicable for this Med/Surg RN role)

This position is ideal for experienced Med/Surg RNs with prior travel contract experience who are licensed in South Carolina and hold current BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke certifications. Candidates should be prepared for night shifts with weekend rotation and floating responsibilities.
