- Shift: Days
- Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: 1:5-6
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- On-call Requirement: Yes
- Floating: Floating within scope to meet facility needs
- Block Schedule: Not accommodated
- Local Candidates: Not accepted (local radius rule: 75 miles)
- Return to Office Restrictions: No more than 7 days
- Guaranteed Hours:
- 36 hours/week for 3-12 hour shifts
- 48 hours/week for 4-12 hour shifts
- First-time travelers accepted
Required Experience & Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Illinois
- Minimum 1 year of telemetry nursing experience, with telemetry experience within the last year
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Compliance & Background Requirements
- Government-issued ID required (e.g., Driver’s License or State ID)
- Criminal Background Check within 6 months (7-year search including statewide and nationwide checks)
- Quarterly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks
- Education verification of highest nursing degree required (cannot pend at start)
- Fingerprinting required for assignments at or floating to long-term care or rehab units in Illinois
- State-specific exclusion and sanction list checks for Illinois and Missouri
- Drug Testing within 1 year of start, including a comprehensive panel (amphetamines, benzodiazepines, cocaine, opiates, etc.)
- Physical Exam within 1 year of start
- Fit Mask testing (N95 respirators) required and must be renewed annually
- Immunizations and Titers:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (every 10 years)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray (2 negative PPDs or equivalent)
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella: Positive titer, vaccination, or medical exemption required
- Hepatitis B declination form required (vaccination not mandatory)
- Seasonal Flu Vaccination or approved exemption required during flu season (Sept-April)
Facility & Documentation Requirements
- Badge photo (head and shoulders, white background, no obstructions, taken within 6 months)
- Signed HIPAA Acknowledgement, Confidentiality Form, Latex Allergy Questionnaire, Hand Hygiene Policy, Fingernail Policy, Dress Code Policy, and Regulatory Compliance Education (annual updates required)
- Employment Application and two professional references required (supervisors preferred)
- Unit-specific skills checklist within 1 year of start (oncology skills checklist if applicable)
- Orientation modules completion required for RNs (approx. 16 hours) unless completed in current calendar year
- Additional state-specific forms and registrations as applicable
Additional Notes
- Floating within scope is expected to meet facility needs
- No block scheduling available
- Locals outside 75 miles radius not accepted
- Return to office restrictions limit time off to no more than 7 days during assignment
This position offers an opportunity to work in an acute care hospital setting on a telemetry unit with a supportive environment for first-time travel nurses. Compliance with all licensure, certification, and background requirements is mandatory for assignment start and continuation.
