Registered Nurse - ICU (Travel/Contract)
Location: Chesapeake, Virginia
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Overview
- Night shifts with 3x12 or 4x12 hour schedules (OT after 48 hours on 4x12)
- Work includes weekdays, every other weekend (EOW), float, and holidays
- Must float to Stepdown Unit; may also float to ED or MedSurg to care for ICU patients being held
- Patient populations include neurosurgical/post-stroke, respiratory failure, renal failure, post-surgical, trauma, sepsis/MODS, heart failure, and post-cardiac cath
- Nurse-to-patient ratios: 1:2-3

- Located in Coastal Virginia near Virginia Beach and Norfolk, offering outdoor activities
- Float assignments may include Stepdown, ED, and MedSurg units

Summary
This is a travel Registered Nurse position in an ICU setting requiring strong neurological critical care skills, Virginia or Compact RN licensure, and multiple certifications including BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS. The role demands flexibility to float to related units and adherence to strict background and licensure standards. The contract is approximately 13 weeks with night shifts and overtime opportunities.
Required Experience & Skills
- Valid RN license in Virginia
- Minimum of 3 years ICU (Intensive Care Unit) experience, including experience within the last year
- ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Experience with Epic electronic health record system
