Job Opportunity: Outpatient Clinic Hematology Oncology Nurse
Location: Richmond, Virginia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Accepts inpatient oncology experience; outpatient clinic experience limited to infusion clinic only.
- Work in a fast-paced clinic serving bone marrow transplant and CAR-T patients.
- Opportunity to rotate through infusion/day hospital, lab/port draw, clinic, and bone marrow biopsy suite.
- Responsibilities include:
- Chemotherapy and biotherapy administration and management, including investigational protocols.
- Transfusion of blood products (blood, platelets, fresh frozen plasma).
- Port draws, phlebotomy, central line access and care.
- Assisting in procedural area with bone marrow biopsy/aspiration and minimal analgesia recovery.
- Management of chemotherapy/biotherapy toxicities.
- Monitoring and managing patients with neutropenia, thrombocytopenia, anemia, and electrolyte abnormalities including repletion.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Virginia
- Minimum of 1 year of Hematology/Oncology nursing experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Additional Notes
- Prior travel experience is not explicitly required for this position.
- Orientation includes exams such as pharmacology, point of care testing, and mask fitting.
- Candidates will be assigned learning modules to complete during orientation week (~6 hours).
- Fingerprinting and CPS (Central Registry) background checks required for certain pediatric and behavioral health units; results may pend but proof of submission must be on file prior to start.
- No onsite certification renewals; all certifications must be current at start of contract.
- Candidates must be prepared to bring certain personal items (mask, headphones, laptop/cell phone) as specified.
