Job Opportunity: Operating Room Registered Nurse

Location: Springfield, Illinois
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Position Details

• Specialty: Registered Nurse – Operating Room
• Shift: Four 10-hour shifts (06:45 AM – 5:15 PM)
• Rooms: 23 operating rooms
• Weekend Requirement: 1 weekend shift per month
• On-Call: Yes, approximately 1 per week (though less frequent recently)
• Floating: Rarely, only within skill set
• Block Schedule: Not accommodated
• Local Candidates: Not accepted; must live at least 50 miles from facility

Experience & Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Illinois
• Minimum 3 years of Operating Room (OR) nursing experience, including OR experience within the last year
• Trauma experience
• Bariatric experience
• Neurology experience
• Orthopedic Surgery experience
• Plastic Surgery experience
• Transplant experience
• Urology experience
• BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
• Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement
• NURSYS Verification (RN, LPN/LVN, AP)
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing

Certifications & Licenses

• Required:

  • Active Illinois RN license (must have in hand or be in application process)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) required
• Preferred:

  • CNOR certification
• Additional Certifications: ACLS and PALS may be required based on unit/specialty

Facility & Work Environment

• Acute Care Hospital with 562 staffed beds
• Level I Trauma Center
• Magnet designated hospital
• Charting system: Cerner
• Scrub color provided
• Parking permit required (no cost)

Additional Requirements

• Must comply with all requested time off reviewed and approved by management
• Background checks, drug screening, physical exam, immunizations, and other health documents required per facility policy
• Fingerprinting must be completed in Illinois for candidates without an IL state license providing direct care
• References and competency exams required for clinical candidates
• Flu vaccination or approved exemption required annually

Notes

• Candidates must be prepared to work with all service lines except Cardiovascular (CV)
• Prior travel experience is not required for this position
• Candidates must be able to meet all health and compliance requirements within specified timeframes
