Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Job - Indiana, Lafayette
Job Details
- Location: Lafayette, Indiana
- Employment Type: Travel/Contract
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
- Shift: 3x12 or 4x12 hour shifts
- Unit: Mixed Acuity Unit (Medical Surgical and Progressive Care Unit)
- Patient Population: Oncology, stroke, cardiac, gastrointestinal, pulmonary, and multiple sclerosis (MS) patients
- Patient Ratios:
- MS patients: 1:5-6
- PCU patients: 1:3-4
- Care Level: Includes unstable strokes, BiPAP, and drips such as Cardizem, Amiodarone, Insulin, Lasix
- Experience: Must have solid neurological (Neuro) experience
- Accepting: MS/Telemetry or PCU RNs only
- Holiday Requirement: Must work 2 out of 3 major holidays
- Locals: Not accepted
Required Certifications
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA or RQI accepted
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or RQI accepted
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) Certification required
License Requirements
- Must have an active Indiana RN license in hand prior to start (no pending licenses accepted)
Requirements/Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Indiana
- Med Surg / Telemetry experience within the last year (minimum 1 year)
- Neurology experience
- ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Background and Compliance
- Background checks required within 90 days of start, including 7 years of residence/work history, SSN trace, county and statewide criminal checks, sex offender registry, and education verification
- Drug screening: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 12 months of start
- Physical exam within 12 months of start
- Fit mask test within 12 months of start (N95 or approved respirators)
- Immunizations and titers required:
- Rubeola (Measles)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Varicella
- Hepatitis B (series, titer, or declination)
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (strongly recommended)
- Flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption (declinations not accepted)
- TB test (PPD, QuantiFERON-TB Gold, or T-SPOT) within 1 year of start
- Color blindness testing required
Documentation
- Must provide clear copies of transcripts/diplomas
- Education verification required
- References: Minimum 2 references from recent employment within 2 years, with supervisory titles
- Skills checklist required within 12 months and annually
- Employment application with full work history and explanations for gaps over 30 days
Additional Notes
- Locals are not accepted for this travel contract
- Indiana RN travelers will not be allowed to work at these facilities after 11/30/24 except for Periop/OR, Allied, and Ambulatory RN travelers

This position is ideal for experienced RNs with strong neurological skills who are comfortable working in a mixed acuity environment including oncology and stroke care, and who meet all licensure and certification requirements.
