Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - MICU

Location: Rochester, New York
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Start Date: May 5, 2026
Shift: 4x12 hour nights (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
Travel Radius: Must be over 75 miles from the facility (locals not accepted)
First Time Travelers: Accepted

Unit & Patient Population

• Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU)
• 16 beds
• Patient conditions include: sepsis, ARDS, renal failure, heart failure, pre-VAD workups, alcohol withdrawal, overdose, multi-organ failure, post cardiac arrest/targeted temperature management, respiratory failure/shock, CRRT, EKOS, IABP, ECMO, Impella
• Nurse to patient ratio: 1:2, occasionally 1:1 based on acuity
• Floating required within skillset

Requirements / Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in New York
• Minimum of 1 year of recent Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU) experience
• Experience with EPIC electronic health record system
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement
• NURSYS license verification

Licensure & Certifications

• Certifications:

  • ACLS (AHA Provider/Instructor/RQI acceptable)
  • BLS (AHA Provider/Instructor/RQI acceptable)
  • Other certifications as required by unit (e.g., PALS, NRP, TNCC, EFM) may be required depending on unit description

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

• Government issued photo ID required
• Background checks including 7-year criminal background, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG
• Education verification and transcript/diploma as applicable
• Primary source verification of state license within 30 days of start
• Medication/pharmacology competency exam as required
• Color blindness testing required
• Photo for badge required (passport-style with solid background)
• Physical exam within 1 year of start, updated annually
• Fit mask test within 1 year of start, updated annually
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year of start
• Immunizations and titers required:

  • Rubeola (Measles)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Hepatitis B
  • Varicella
• Drug screening within 30 days of start (not required annually)
• Seasonal flu vaccination or signed declination required during flu season
• Snellen eye exam within 1 year of start (not required annually)
• COVID vaccination copy preferred but not required

Additional Notes

• Floating within skillset is required
• Candidates must complete health-related requirements and lab work within 5 days of signing contract
• Prior travel experience is not required
• Locals within 75 miles radius are not accepted

This position is ideal for a Registered Nurse with strong MICU experience, EPIC charting skills, and the ability to work night shifts in a high-acuity critical care environment.
