Location: Lexington, Kentucky

Job Description Highlights

  • Work in Labor and Delivery unit.
  • Must be proficient with EPIC electronic health records.
  • Required skills/certifications include AWHONN Fetal Monitoring, Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), and Basic Life Support (BLS).

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Kentucky
  • Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery experience, including experience within the last year
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Experience with EPIC electronic health records

Background and Compliance Requirements

  • 7-year criminal background check within one year of start, updated annually.
  • Education verification matching RN specialty required prior to start; diploma or transcript acceptable if verification is unavailable.
  • Drug screening: Negative 9-panel urine drug screen within 90 days of start.
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start (not required by facility but required by agency standards).
  • Fit mask test (respirator fit test) updated annually.
  • Immunizations and health screenings required:
    • Tdap vaccine within 10 years (declination acceptable for non-clinical only)
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year, updated annually
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) - 2 vaccines or IgG titer required, no declinations accepted
    • Varicella - 2 vaccines or IgG titer required, no declinations accepted
    • Hepatitis B - Surface antibody titer, series, or declination required
    • Seasonal flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31)
    • COVID-19 vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption required

Competency and Testing

  • Medication/Pharmacology competency exam required.
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam required for RNs in relevant specialties; must be current within 1 year and updated annually.
  • Pass/Fail EKG test required for Med Surg/Telemetry and ICU units.
  • Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) training may be required depending on specialty.

Additional Requirements

  • Two professional references required.
  • Unit-specific skills checklist required and must be updated annually.
  • Photo for badge required (clear, unedited, solid background).
  • Driver’s license required if driving is part of job responsibilities.

Notes

  • Separate background check approvals may be required for different facilities within the system.
  • Work history verification may be requested if background check reveals issues.
  • Facility-specific exemption forms required for vaccine exemptions.
  • Candidates must comply with all onboarding and credentialing requirements prior to start.
