Job Opportunity: CT Tech

Location: New Orleans, Louisiana
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Position requires working Monday to Friday, 11:30 AM to 8:00 PM.
  • Experience needed in Emergency Department (ED), inpatient, and outpatient settings.
  • Candidate will float between ED, main campus, outpatient, and nearby clinics.
  • Experience with Epic and GE systems is required.
  • Unit does not accept first-time travelers.
  • Must work holidays if scheduled.
  • This position is in an area commonly impacted by hurricanes (June 1 - Nov 30 hurricane season). Candidates may be assigned to an Emergency Team during storms with expectations to stay onsite or assist with relief efforts.

Requirements/Qualifications

  • Valid CT Technologist license in Louisiana
  • Minimum of 1 year of CT Technologist experience, including experience within the last year
  • Completion of at least one travel assignment as a CT Technologist
  • ARRT (CT) certification required
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
  • Experience working in Emergency Department (ED), inpatient, and outpatient settings
  • Experience with Epic electronic health record system
  • Experience with GE Healthcare imaging systems

Required Certifications & Licenses

  • CT Certification: ARRT (CT) certification required.
  • BLS: Basic Life Support (AHA only, RQI accepted). Renewal required if expiring within 30 days of start.
  • ACLS: Advanced Cardiac Life Support (AHA only, RQI accepted). Check unit description for requirement. Renewal required if expiring within 30 days of start.
  • State License: Active Louisiana state license or Compact license required upon submission. Renewal must be completed if expiring within 30 days of start.
  • National Certification Verification: Must provide proof of current national certification relevant to CT Technologist role. Renewal required if expiring within 30 days of start.

Required Experience

  • Prior experience working in ED, inpatient, and outpatient radiology/cardiology settings is required.
  • First-time travelers are not accepted for this position.

Additional Requirements

  • Must have a current, valid driver's license or government photo ID (color copy required).
  • Must pass a 7-year criminal background check and other standard background screenings (including EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, Sex Offender Search).
  • Must provide education verification (transcript or diploma acceptable if verification cannot be completed).
  • Must complete competency exams specific to specialty with a minimum score of 80%, updated annually.
  • Must provide a full-color, passport-style photo for badge within 24 hours of booking.
  • Must complete a physical exam within 12 months prior to start, indicating good physical health.
  • Negative 10-panel drug screen required within 60 days of start (instant screenings not accepted).
  • Required immunizations or proof of immunity:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (required for ED, Pediatrics, Mother/Baby, NICU)
    • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella (positive IGG titer or completed vaccine series)
    • Hepatitis B (positive antibody titer, completed vaccine series, or booster)
    • Varicella (positive IGG titer or completed vaccine series)
  • Annual flu vaccination, declination, or medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Oct 1 - Apr 30).
  • Must complete COVID-19 medical or religious exemption forms if applicable.
  • Fit mask testing (N95) within one year of start required; onsite fit testing available if needed.
  • Must be willing to work during hurricane season and participate in emergency preparedness as assigned.

Important Notes

  • Prior travel experience is required; first-time travelers will not be considered.
  • Candidates should be comfortable with potential hurricane-related emergency assignments.
  • Holiday work is mandatory if scheduled.

This position is ideal for experienced CT Technologists with strong flexibility, prior travel experience, and the ability to work in a dynamic, multi-setting environment.
