Respiratory Therapist (Temp, Nights)

Location: Des Moines, Iowa
Employment Type: Temporary
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Overview

• Work approximately 36-40 hours per week; overtime billable after 40 hours.
• May be required to float across multiple campuses.
• Cross-training on general Pediatric floor to assist when needed.
• Patient population includes all ages, with possible work in PICU, NICU, or Pediatric Intensive Care Units.
• Equipment experience with HFOV (High-Frequency Oscillatory Ventilation), Jet, and Servo U highly preferred.
• Use of EPIC electronic medical records system required.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 24 months of respiratory care experience in a hospital or medical center setting.
• At least 36 months of current experience as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) or Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT).
• All relevant certifications active and in hand.
• Required certifications:

  • NBRC (National Board for Respiratory Care) certification.
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) or PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification.
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification from AHA or ARC.
• Valid Respiratory Therapist license preferred; Iowa license highly preferred but licensing candidates with 1-3 week turnaround accepted.
• Skills checklist specific to respiratory therapy discipline required.
• Driver’s license required.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in PICU, Pediatric Intensive Care, or NICU.
• IDPH (Iowa Department of Public Health) Respiratory Care and Polysomnography credentials preferred.
• Professional references or performance evaluations within the last 24 months preferred.

• CRTs are accepted for this position.
