Registered Nurse (Cardiac Observation Unit) - Travel Assignment

Location: Tucson, Arizona
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

As a Registered Nurse in the Cardiac Observation Unit, you will provide high-level care for patients undergoing cardiac catheterization procedures. Responsibilities include:

  • Evaluating and planning nursing care for assigned patients
  • Assisting physicians during examinations and procedures
  • Performing patient tests and administering medications within RN scope of practice
  • Preparing patients for cardiac catheterization and cardioversion procedures
  • Recovering patients post-procedure, including those who had conscious sedation
  • Performing bedside procedures such as Transesophageal Echocardiography (TEE) and Cardioversions (CV)
  • Discharging patients with appropriate teaching and documentation

The unit cares for high-risk, high-acuity patients and performs bedside procedures requiring close monitoring and skilled nursing care.


Shift Information

  • Varies: 3 shifts of 12 hours each (day shifts between 6:00 AM and 8:30 PM)
  • Call requirements include weekends (Saturday and Sunday) on a rotational basis approximately once every 4 to 6 weeks

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Arizona
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Minimum 2 years of Electrophysiology Lab experience, including experience within the last year
  • Cardiac Cath Lab experience
  • ACLS certification
  • BLS certification

  • Prior travel experience is not explicitly required for this position.
  • The role involves working with high-acuity cardiac patients and requires comfort with bedside cardiac procedures and sedation monitoring.
