Registered Nurse - PCU

Location: Johnson City, Tennessee
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Details

• 36/36 schedule (36 hours on, 36 hours off)
• Rotating weekends and holidays
• No call required
• Floating between units required
• 24/7 phlebotomy, Respiratory Therapist (RRT), and supervisor support available on all units
• Hybrid unit setting (Progressive Care Unit - PCU)
• Hospital may cancel or call off one shift biweekly without penalty due to census changes
• Additional overtime shifts may be available and flexed as needed
• Expected to participate in nursing student support and clinical education alongside clinical care

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Tennessee
• Minimum 1 year of Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience within the last year
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification

Orientation

• General orientation begins on Sundays
• 16 hours of non-billable orientation required
• Orientation includes online computer-based learning (CBLs) on Sunday

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

• Background check within 30 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years
• Education verification required
• Tennessee Adult Abuse Registry check if licensed or working in Tennessee
• Drug screening: Standard 9-panel drug screen within 14 days of start
• Physical exam within 1 year of start (not required annually)
• Immunizations and titers required or documentation of immunity for:

  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella)
  • Varicella
  • Hepatitis B (series, titer, or declination)
  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray as applicable
• Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season
• Respirator fit testing completed onsite (previous fit tests from non-facility sources not accepted)
• Annual safety manual acknowledgement and competency exams as applicable

Additional Notes

• Must comply with facility-specific dress code and uniform guidelines
• Must complete contaminated sharps and body fluid exposure statement
• Must review and comply with smoking and tobacco use policies
• Must complete respirator medical evaluation questionnaire within 48 hours of contract signing
• Photo for badge must meet specific standards and be submitted within 48 hours of contract signing

Prior Travel Experience

• First-time travelers accepted (no prior travel experience required)
