Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Progressive Care Unit
Location: Richmond, Virginia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Work in a progressive care medicine unit
- Patient ratio: 1 nurse to 4 patients
- Experience with EPIC electronic health record system required
- Local candidates allowed at the same rate
- Minimum 2 years of nursing experience required
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Virginia
- Minimum 2 years of Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience, with at least some experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Experience with Epic electronic health record system
Background and Health Requirements
- Criminal background check within 60 days of start, including all states lived/worked in past 7 years
- Statewide and nationwide background screenings, including sex offender registry
- Education verification from an accredited nursing program (NLN or CCNE accredited)
- Physical exam within 1 year attesting ability to meet physical demands of the position
- Required immunizations and titers:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (vaccine or declination)
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella (titers and boosters if low)
- Hepatitis B (titer, vaccine series, or declination)
- Varicella (titers and booster if low)
- Seasonal flu vaccine or approved exemption (no declinations accepted)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray per protocol (Q-gold/T-spot or two PPDs)
- Drug screening within 60 days of start (9-panel minimum, instant screens not accepted)
Additional Requirements
- Government-issued photo ID required during hours of service
- Completion of orientation modules and facility-specific exams (pharmacology, point of care testing, mask fitting, BKAT)
- Completion of Virginia Central Registry (CPS) search and fingerprinting as required by state regulations
- Must submit required documentation within specified timeframes (e.g., fingerprinting proof within 48 hours of confirmation)
- Two professional references required
- Complete application and skills checklist updated annually
Notes
- Prior travel experience is not explicitly required for this position
- Candidates may start with some background or fingerprinting results pending if proof of submission is on file
- No onsite certification renewals; renewals must be scheduled prior to contract start
