Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse – Emergency Center
Location: Albany, Georgia
Contract Length: 17 weeks
Shift: 12-hour shifts, ASAP start
Job Description
Seeking experienced Emergency Room (ER) Registered Nurses for 17-week contracts. Candidates should have experience in larger hospital settings and be comfortable working in a fast-paced emergency department environment.
Unit Details
- Emergency Room with 25 monitored beds, 6 fast treatment beds, 6 fast treatment chairs, 2 trauma bays, a recess bay, and a dedicated stroke room
- Behavioral lockdown area with 4 beds staffed by psychiatric personnel
- Approximately 140 patient visits per day
- Fast track area for less acute patients
- Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:4
- Charge nurse and nurse aides/paramedics available (2-3 per shift)
- Central monitoring techs for telemetry
- Respiratory therapists available 24/7 dedicated to ER
- Pharmacy coverage 11 hours in department, 24/7 on campus
- Nurses perform lab draws and start IVs
- Security and patient sitters available for safety
- Weekend requirement: every 3rd to 4th weekend
- Holiday requirement: every other holiday
- Scrub color: Caribbean Blue
Required Certifications
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
- NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) or ASLS (Advanced Stroke Life Support)
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) preferred
Requirements/Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Georgia
- Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department (ED) experience, with at least some experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Experience in an acute care setting
- Experience with MEDITECH electronic medical record system
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification
- ASLS (Advanced Stroke Life Support) or NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) certification
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention) certification
Additional Requirements
- Driver’s license address must be within 75 miles of the facility
- COVID-19 immunization not required; unvaccinated staff must agree to weekly testing
- Clinical interview or auto-offer option available based on profile and skills review
Patient Population & Common Diagnoses
- Patients range from pediatrics to geriatrics
- Trauma cases including neuro and orthopedic trauma (some neuro trauma patients are transferred out)
- Stroke (CVA) center
- No burn patients treated onsite
Orientation
- Floor-specific orientation lasting 1-2 shifts depending on comfort level
