Travel Registered Nurse - Trauma ICU
Location: Saint Louis, Missouri
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 16 weeks
Job Details
- Specialty: Registered Nurse - Trauma ICU
- Shift: Rotating shifts (typically 3 weeks days, 3 weeks nights)
- Hours: 36 or 48 hours per week
- Start Date: 3-4 weeks from compliance clearance
- Patient Ratio: 1:2
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- On-call: Not required
- Floating: May float within scope to meet facility needs
- Block Scheduling: Not accommodated
- Local Candidates: Not accepted within 75-mile radius
- Pending License: Accepted
- Guaranteed Hours: Yes
- Experience Required: Minimum 2 years ICU experience, including trauma patients
- First-time Travelers: Accepted
Required Skills & Responsibilities
- Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias (must pass Relias EKG exam)
- Management of arterial lines, central lines, and PICC lines
- ICU experience with trauma patients preferred
- Experience in a Level I Trauma Center environment preferred
Required Certifications
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- NIH Stroke Certification
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) - required if extending past 9 months in Burn ICU
- Other certifications as applicable to ICU/Trauma nursing
Licensure
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license for Missouri
- Missouri licenses must be verifiable via NURSYS
- Temporary licenses accepted with approval
- IV Certification if applicable (for LPN/LVN, not required for RN)
Compliance & Background Requirements
- Government-issued ID required
- Criminal background check within 6 months (7-year search including statewide and nationwide)
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks quarterly
- Education verification of highest nursing degree required
- State-specific background checks as applicable
- Drug testing within 1 year, must remain valid throughout assignment
- Physical exam within 1 year of start
- Fit mask testing (N95) required and must be renewed annually
- Immunizations and health screenings including:
- Tdap (or declination)
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 1 year
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella immunity or vaccination/declination
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption during flu season
- Various facility-specific compliance documents including HIPAA, confidentiality, hand hygiene, dress code, and orientation modules
Additional Requirements
- Must complete unit-specific competency exams annually, including medication and dysrhythmia/EKG competency
- Two professional references required (supervisors preferred)
- Employment application and skills checklist required
- No on-call duties required
- Must adhere to facility policies including vehicle registration if applicable
Requirements/Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Missouri
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Minimum 1 year of ICU (Intensive Care Unit) experience, including trauma experience, within the last year
- Proficient in interpretation and management of dysrhythmias (EKG)
- Experience managing arterial lines, central lines, and PICC lines
- Trauma patient care experience
Notes
- This is a Level I Trauma Center and Magnet-designated teaching hospital environment
- Charting system used: EPIC
- Parking available at a cost (not included here)
- Candidates must be able to work rotating shifts and meet ICU trauma nursing demands
- Prior travel experience is not required for this position
