Registered Nurse - Telemetry
Location: Springfield, Missouri
Employment Type: Travel Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Summary
Provide direct patient care on a telemetry unit, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care for cardiac and medical-surgical patients. Coordinate patient care with ancillary departments and maintain professional accountability consistent with nursing standards and state regulations.
Work Schedule
- Shift: Nights (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
- Weekly Hours: 36 or 48 (must be specified on submission)
- Weekend hours as required
- No call requirements
- Night shift orientation occurs on day shift and requires full week availability
Unit Information
- Unit: Surgical Floor, Telemetry
- Beds: 32
- Patient Ratios (estimates):
- Days: 1:5 to 1:6
- Nights: 1:6 to 1:8
- Equipment: Alaris pumps, telemetry monitors, lift equipment
- EMR System: EPIC
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Missouri
- Minimum 1 year of telemetry nursing experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Experience in an inpatient setting
Preferred Qualifications
- ACLS certification from AHA
- Experience in trauma care (inpatient)
- Competence in drug titration
Job Responsibilities
- Utilize nursing process to provide care for patients post-trauma, surgical interventions, and medical comorbidities
- Maintain patient rights and confidentiality
- Evaluate effectiveness of care provided by self and others
- Coordinate care with other departments
- Adhere to professional standards, state nurse practice act, and organizational values
Physical and Mental Requirements
- Stand and walk most of the shift
- Frequent bending, stooping, lifting, and turning patients with assistance
- Ability to push, pull, and grip up to 50 lbs; pinch up to 15 lbs
- Occasional kneeling, crouching, and crawling
- Exposure to blood and body fluids
- Flexibility to work varying schedules and shifts as needed
Additional Information
- Floating on a rotational basis within the unit
- Dress code: Black scrubs; no torn clothes or open-toed shoes
- Flu vaccination or approved exemption required from November 1 to April 1 (declinations not accepted)
