Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Neuro ICU
Location: Madison, Wisconsin
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift Details
- Evening/Night shifts
- 12-hour shifts (1900-0730)
- Every other weekend required
- Some holidays required
Unit & Patient Population
- ICU experience required
- Neurosurgery experience preferred
- Must be willing to work with ICU and Intermediate Care (IMC) patient populations

- Telemetry competency testing required before start
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Background check within 90 days prior to start, including multi-location search for past 7 years
- Education verification as applicable
- Wisconsin Caregiver Screening (state-mandated) within 90 days of start
- Drug screening per standard clinical requirements
- Immunizations and health documents including:
- TB test or chest X-ray
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or titers, with medical/religious exemptions considered
- Varicella vaccination or titer
- Hepatitis B vaccination or declination form
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption (required annually during flu season)
- Other vaccines or declinations as applicable (e.g., Meningococcal for certain departments)
- Physical exam (to meet agency standard)
- Photo for badge (passport-style, no headwear except for religious/medical reasons)
- Signed acknowledgment of safety manual and pass/fail testing for telemetry
Testing & Training
- Telemetry pass/fail testing required (Adult and Pediatric versions as applicable)
- Medication/pharmacology competency exams as applicable
- Remediation process in place for failed telemetry tests, with up to 3 attempts allowed
Additional Notes
- Must be willing to work in a high-acuity neuro ICU setting with complex patients
- Facility requires strict adherence to credentialing, compliance, and testing protocols
- Documentation and compliance must be maintained and updated as required throughout the contract
Requirements/Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Wisconsin
- Minimum 1 year of Neuro ICU experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Experience with Epic electronic health record system
