Job Opportunity: Emergency Room Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Lees Summit, Missouri
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Overview
- Role: Registered Nurse in Emergency Room (ER)
- Shift: Day shift, 3 shifts per 13 weeks, 12 hours each (11:00 AM – 11:30 PM)
- Patient Ratio: 1 nurse to 4 patients
- Facility Type: Community Hospital with 240 staffed beds
- Charting System: EPIC
- Scrub Color: Navy
- Floating: May be required to float within scope to all metro EDs and between departments/units/facilities as needed
- Weekend Requirement: Yes, every third weekend or 8 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule period (Friday/Saturday/Sunday combination)
- Holiday shifts and Charge RN assignments as needed
- Local candidates not accepted; home must be at least 75 miles from facility
- No pending licenses accepted
- Return to Office (RTO) restrictions: No more than 7 days
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Missouri
- Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department (ED) nursing experience, including experience within the last year
- Completion of at least one travel nursing assignment
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Clinical skills in:
- Pediatrics
- IV therapy and phlebotomy
- Respiratory care
- Neurological care including stroke (CVA) management
- Orthopedics
- Ability and willingness to float within scope to all SLHS Metro EDs and other departments/units/facilities as needed
Compliance and Documentation Requirements
- Government-issued ID (Driver’s License/State ID)
- Criminal background check within 6 months (7-year search including statewide, nationwide, international if applicable)
- Quarterly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks
- Education verification of highest nursing degree (no pending at start)
- Missouri Family Care Safety Registry (FCSR) results (time sensitive)
- Physical exam within 1 year of start
- Drug testing within 1 year of start, including specific drug panels, must remain valid throughout assignment
- Immunizations and health screenings:
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 1 year
- Tdap vaccine or declination (expires every 10 years)
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella immunity or vaccination/declination as applicable
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption during flu season (Sept-April)
- Fit mask (N95) testing annually, must be able to pass fit test or follow facility protocol for onsite testing
- Required facility-specific documents: HIPAA acknowledgement, latex allergy questionnaire, confidentiality form, regulatory compliance education, hepatitis B declination, TB questionnaire, hand hygiene policy, fingernail policy, dress code policy, orientation modules (approx. 16 hours via WorkRamp)
- Badge photo (head and shoulders, white background, no obstructions, taken within 6 months)
- Employment application and professional references (2 required, supervisors preferred)
- Unit-specific competency exams including medication/pharmacology, dysrhythmia/EKG, and skills checklists (oncology skills checklist if applicable)
Additional Notes
- No on-call requirement
- Guaranteed minimum of 3 shifts per 13 weeks
- Floating may be required to meet facility needs
- Candidates must comply with all facility policies and complete required training modules prior to start
- Candidates must be prepared for weekend and holiday shifts as scheduled
This position is ideal for experienced ER Registered Nurses with prior travel contract experience seeking a community hospital setting with a structured schedule and comprehensive support.
