Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - CVPICU
Location: Durham, North Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Night (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each; 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM)
Hours per Week: 36
Job Description
- Targeted start dates: May 4 or May 18 (other start dates will be redirected)
- Weekend requirement: Every other weekend
- Floating required
- Orientation sessions held bi-weekly
- Local candidates within 75 miles considered (with adjusted rate)
- First-time travelers are welcome
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in North Carolina
- Minimum 1 year of CVPICU experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Compliance and Documentation Requirements
- Background Checks:
- Must be completed within 90 days of start date
- Includes SSN trace, county searches for past 7 years, alias searches, nationwide and sex offender checks, international searches if applicable
- Education verification required for certain specialties
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 90 days
- OFAC sanctions list search required within 30 days of start
- Health Documents:
- Physical exam within 12 months of start (latex allergy acceptable)
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 12 months (with specific protocols for positive history)
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine every 10 years (no exemptions)
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella immunization or positive antibody titers (no exemptions)
- Hepatitis B titer, vaccine series, or declination
- Varicella immunization or positive titer (may start with 2nd booster pending)
- Seasonal flu vaccination required (no exemptions; must be completed prior to flu season)
- Drug test: Negative 10-panel including THC within 30 days of start (instant tests not accepted)
- References: Two professional references from employment within the last 12 months, at least one must be a supervisor
- Employment Application: Complete with 7 years of work history
- Skills Checklist: Must be updated annually
Orientation and Onboarding
- Candidates must set up a Guest Account prior to clearance to access orientation and work systems
- Online modules must be completed before orientation
- Competency exams and pass/fail testing (EKG/medication) administered at orientation
- Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) Blue Card required or training provided onsite if not held
- Competency checklists (CBOs) must be completed within 3 weeks after start date
Additional Notes
- Candidates cannot start with pending background checks
- Candidates with less than a 30-day gap between previous assignments may have some document requirements waived or accepted on file
- Drug testing and health document expiration dates are strictly enforced
- Floating and weekend shifts are mandatory parts of the schedule
