Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Pediatric Cardiovascular ICU position at a Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center and teaching hospital, requiring a minimum of 2 years of Pediatric Cardiac ICU experience.

- 20-bed Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit within a 247-licensed-bed Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center and teaching hospital
- Unit is divided into two mirrored sides of 10 beds each, with centralized nursing station and most critical patients positioned closest to the nursing station
- High-acuity pediatric patient population ranging from newborns to 18 years old
- Common diagnoses and procedures include congenital heart defects post-surgery, pre- and post-transplant medical management, s/p cath lab, ventricular assistive devices, ECMO, Impella, dialysis, and Aquadex (renal replacement therapy)
- Patient ratios vary by acuity: 1:1, 2:1, or 1:2 (nurse to patient)
- 12-hour night shifts, 1830–0630, 36 hours per week
- Weekend rotation of 3–4 weekends (Friday, Saturday, Sunday) within every 6-week scheduling cycle
- Floating required to PICU, NICU, and General Pediatrics as needed
- EMR: Epic (experience required)
- IV pumps: Alaris; medication dispensing: Omnicell; monitors: Philips
Requirements
- Active NC or compact RN license required
- Required certifications: BLS, PALS, and NIHSS
- Minimum 2 years of Pediatric Cardiac ICU experience in a similarly acute facility
- Experience with fresh open-heart post-op patients and transplant patients required
- Hands-on experience with Aquadex (renal replacement therapy), Impella, and ECMO required
- Epic EMR experience required
- Candidates must have a permanent address at least 50 miles from the facility
- Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration
- Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the past year, from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN

- Travelers are expected to work 75% of holidays
- RTO requests require manager approval
- Candidates who have previously worked a permanent position at an AHSE facility must have been separated for at least 1 year before being eligible
- Unit support includes a unit secretary every shift, a free-floating charge nurse, a free-floating resource nurse, a health care tech per day shift for runner and patient care support, IV/VAT team, respiratory therapy 24/7, cardiologist 24/7, and intensivist 24/7
- Centralized and bedside cardiac monitoring in place; no dedicated telemetry monitoring tech
- Orientation includes NEO plus 2 days of departmental orientation
- Required scrub color is navy
- On-site parking is available at no cost
