Registered Nurse - PACU (Travel/Contract)
Location: Washington, District of Columbia
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Shift: Monday to Friday, 4 days a week, 10-hour shifts (staggered start times between 7:30 AM - 6:30 PM)
- Schedule: One late coverage shift per week
- On-Call/Weekend/Holiday: No on-call, no weekends, no holidays required
- Float Requirement: Will float within the GI Suite based on competency
- Work Setting: Inpatient Endoscopy, PACU, Preoperative areas
- Preferred Experience: Phase I PACU, Phase II Recovery, Ambulatory/Outpatient, prior charge experience
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in District of Columbia
- Minimum 1 year of PACU (Post Anesthesia Care) experience, with experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or ARC approved
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
- Minimum 2 years in inpatient endoscopy, PACU, or preoperative nursing
- Must have completed at least 1 prior travel assignment; first-time travelers may be considered but require screening
- Flu vaccination required for all travelers
Compliance and Documentation Requirements
- Background Checks: Criminal background check within 90 days covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years, including federal and state searches
- Drug Screen: Within 90 days of start (excluding marijuana), includes multiple substances; positive results reviewed by Medical Review Officer
- Health Documents:
- Annual physical exam confirming ability to work without accommodations and free from communicable disease
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year; annual TB questionnaire required
- Immunizations or titers for Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B, Tdap (within 10 years preferred)
- N95 Fit Test within 9 months and updated annually (client may complete onsite if needed)
- References: Two positive supervisory references supporting at least 2 years of experience within the last 3 years
- Work History: Complete 7 years of work history with no gaps, including education and license information
Competency Requirements
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam within 3 years, minimum 80% passing score
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam (Relias Dysrhythmia Basics A) within 1 year, updated annually, with specific scoring requirements for lethal rhythms (only if applicable to unit)
- Color blindness testing (online or in-person)
- Annual skills checklist and orientation safety manual acknowledgment
Additional Notes
- Valid driver’s license required if driving is an essential job function
- Facility-specific modules (SITELS) must be completed prior to hire date
- Flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Sept-Mar) with strict exemption guidelines
- No weekend, holiday, or on-call shifts required for this position
This position offers a structured day shift schedule with no weekend or holiday requirements, suitable for experienced PACU/endoscopy RNs with prior travel experience and required certifications.
