Registered Nurse - Dialysis (Travel)
Location: Saint Louis, Missouri
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Details
- Specialty: Acute Dialysis
- Shift: Days (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each; 7am – 7pm)
- Weekly Guaranteed Hours: 36
- Call Requirements: One night per week (7pm – 7am)
- Weekend Hours: Only if needed (7am – 7pm)
- Number of Openings: 2
- Float Requirements: As needed, to similar or lower acuity units
Unit Information
- Unit Type: 6-bay dialysis unit; also provides care in ICU and bedside for isolation patients
- Patient Ratios:
- Dialysis unit: 1:2 or 1:3 depending on acuity
- Bedside: 1:1
- Equipment: TABLO dialysis machines, Baxter Home Choice for peritoneal dialysis
- Electronic Medical Record (EMR): EPIC
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Missouri
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Minimum 1 year of dialysis experience, including experience within the last year
Preferred Qualifications
- ACLS certification from AHA
Job Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation for all age groups
- Utilize nursing process to care for patients post-trauma, surgical interventions, and with medical comorbidities
- Coordinate patient care with ancillary departments to optimize comfort and outcomes
- Maintain patient rights and confidentiality
- Maintain professional accountability and evaluate care effectiveness of other caregivers
- Perform duties consistent with nursing practice guidelines and state nurse practice act
Working Conditions & Physical Requirements
- Stand and walk most of the shift
- Frequent bending, stooping, lifting, and turning patients with assistance
- May work varying schedules and shifts based on patient care needs
- Exposure to blood and body fluids considered high risk
- Physical demands include pushing, pulling, gripping up to 50 lbs, pinching up to 15 lbs, minimal kneeling, crouching, and crawling
Additional Information
- Flu vaccination required for all travelers from November 1 through April 1; declinations not accepted
- Night shift orientation occurs on day shift; availability for full orientation week required
- Dress code: Black scrubs; no long embellished nails or unacceptable attire
