RN Emergency Room
Location: Hartford, Connecticut
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (LTA)
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM (Night Shift)
Hours: 36 hours per week
Unit: Emergency Department and Inpatient Hold
Job Description
- Must be able to manage Emergency Department (ED) and Inpatient Hold RN ratios and patient acuity during the shift.
Required Qualifications
Licensure and Education
- Valid RN license in Connecticut
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
Certifications
- BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by American Heart Association
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) issued by American Heart Association
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) or ENPC (Emergency Nurse Pediatric Course) issued by American Heart Association
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
Experience
- Minimum 1 year of Emergency Department (ED) experience within the last year
- Experience in an Inpatient setting
Health and Safety Requirements
- COVID-19 vaccine with booster proof or approved exemption/declination (declination not accepted in CA or IL).
- Influenza vaccine or approved exemption/declination (declination not accepted in CA or IL).
- Hepatitis B vaccination series must be initiated prior to start.
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination proof or immunity titer.
- Varicella vaccination proof or immunity titer.
- Tdap vaccine (declination accepted if no pediatric interaction).
- 2-Step PPD or IGRA (Quantiferon/Tspot) test; if positive, chest X-ray required within last year.
- Fit test for respirator use.
- Respirator evaluation with physician signature.
- Physical/health statement confirming fitness to work (exam within last year).
- 10-panel drug screen completed within 30 days of start (no THC).
Professional and Compliance Requirements
- Criminal background check (federal, nationwide, county) covering last 7 years, dated within 30 days of start.
- Education verification of highest academic degree or diploma.
- Various compliance forms including:
- Code of Conduct
- Conflict of Interest Disclosure
- Confidentiality and Information Security Agreement
- Integrity and Audit Services Form
- Criminal background and exclusion screenings (EPLS, OIG, NSO, OFAC)
- Specialty-specific competency testing and skills checklist (completed within last year).
- System access form completed and uploaded one week before start.
- Joint Commission CORE exam within the last year.
Additional Notes
- All certifications must be uploaded with front and back images showing expiration dates.
- Specialty competency exam and skills checklist are required for clinical contractors.
- The role requires working night shifts with responsibility for both ED and inpatient hold patients.
