Echo Tech Cardiac Sonographer Pediatrics
Location: Decatur, Illinois
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Perform adult and pediatric echocardiograms (echos).
- Shift schedule varies between 8-hour shifts (5 days/week) and 10-hour shifts (4 days/week) based on department needs. Typical start times between 7:00-8:00 AM.
- 40 hours per week total.
- On-call required: usually one weekday and every 3rd to 4th weekend; schedule may vary due to vacations or leaves of absence.
- Floating within scope of practice may be required to meet facility needs.
- Block schedule accommodations can be discussed with management.
- Locals are accepted with no radius restrictions.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of experience as an Echo-Vascular Technician, with at least one year of recent experience within the last year.
- Certifications required:
- ARDMS (American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography)
- RDCS (Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- Demonstrated experience working with both adult and pediatric patients.
- Proven expertise in adult echocardiography.
- Proven expertise in pediatric echocardiography.
Work Environment & Facility
- Acute care hospital with Level II Trauma center designation.
- 372 staffed beds.
- Charting system: Cerner.
- Scrub color provided.
- Parking permit required but no cost for parking.
Compliance & Onboarding Requirements
- Must be physically present in Illinois at least 3 business days prior to start for fingerprinting (cannot be done out of state).
- Fingerprinting required for all clinical candidates without an Illinois state license providing direct patient care.
- Background checks required within 30 days of start, including:
- SSN trace, counties, states, national criminal, sex offender, FACIS Level 3
- EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG checks
- Illinois Department of Corrections inmate search
- Illinois Most Wanted and State Police Murderer and Violent Offender Against Youth Registry searches
- Education verification required (official or unofficial transcripts accepted if pending).
- Competency exam required for all clinical candidates.
- Physical exam required within 1 year of start, including labs scheduled within 7 days of contract signing. Must confirm good physical and mental health and ability to perform job functions without restrictions.
- Fit mask test required (specific mask types accepted).
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year required.
- Immunization or documented immunity required for:
- Measles (Rubeola)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B
- Varicella
- 9-panel drug screen required within 30 days of start.
- Flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required annually by November 30.
- Badge photo required within one week of contract signing.
- Candidate must review and sign code of conduct and parking permit forms within 7 days of contract signing.
Additional Notes
- Call-off policy allows client to cancel up to 36 hours per 13-week assignment without pay obligation.
- Candidate may be called on-call instead of being called off; on-call shifts count as worked shifts.
- Schedule requests and restrictions should be discussed with the manager.
This position is ideal for experienced Echo Techs with strong skills in both adult and pediatric echocardiography, comfortable with on-call duties and flexible scheduling in an acute care hospital setting.
