Description

American Traveler is hiring a Cardiac Sonographer (Echo Tech) with a minimum of 2 years of experience performing both adult and pediatric echocardiograms in an acute care hospital setting.

Details

• Work in the cardiology/echo department of a 372-bed acute care hospital designated as a Level II Trauma Center
• Patient population includes both adult and pediatric patients
• Adult echo skills required include: Bubble Study, Imaging with Contrast Agents, M-Mode, Pharmacologic Stress Echo, Portable Studies, RVIT, RVOT, Routine, TEE, and Treadmill Stress Echo
• Pediatric echo skills required include: M-Mode, Portable Studies, RVIT, RVOT, and Routine studies
• Charting performed in Cerner
• Siemens equipment experience preferred
• Schedule is a mix of 4x10-hour shifts (7:00 AM–5:30 PM) and 5x8-hour shifts (7:00 AM–3:30 PM) based on department needs
• On-call is required approximately every other or every third weekend and one day per week, subject to change based on department needs
• Floating within scope is required, including to nearby affiliate hospitals
• Local candidates are accepted with no radius restriction

Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Cardiac Sonographer/Echo Tech
• Ability to perform both adult and pediatric echocardiograms is required
• Active ARDMS, RDCS, and BLS certifications required (AHA or Red Cross accepted; RQI AHA cards not accepted)
• License required if applicable
• Experience performing procedures on patients in ICU/ED settings required
• Knowledge of isolation precautions required
• First-time travelers are not eligible for this position
• SSN and DOB required for consideration
• Must be present in Illinois at least 3 business days prior to compliance start date to meet fingerprinting requirements

Additional Information

• Perform a full range of adult and pediatric echocardiographic studies including TEE, stress echo, portable studies, and contrast imaging
• Scrubs are provided
• Parking permit is required but provided at no cost
• Candidates must be prepared to work 2 out of 3 major holidays
• Up to 5 days of non-holiday time off may be approved; requests beyond that require facility approval
• Former permanent or PRN employees of the Memorial Hospital System must have been separated for at least 12 months before being eligible to apply as a traveler
• Travel pairs are not accepted at this facility
