Location: Lubbock, Texas
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Shift: Night (3 shifts of 12 hours each, 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM)
- Hours per Week: 36
- Unit: Emergency Room (ER)
- Patient Ratio: 1 nurse to 3 patients
- Weekend Requirement: 6 weekend shifts every 6 weeks
- Block Scheduling: Required
- Floating: No floating between units
- On-call: Not required

Requirements/Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas
- Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department (ED) experience, with at least some experience within the last year
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) certification
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association or Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Required Certifications
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
- NIH Stroke Certification (renew every 2 years)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – AHA or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation certification only
- BLS (Basic Life Support) – AHA or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation certification only
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) – AHA or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation certification only
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) – current certification by AAP, AHA, or Canadian Paediatric Society
- Chemotherapy certification (if applicable)
- EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring) certification (if applicable)
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) certification (if applicable)
- IV Certification (if required by unit)
- Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB) (if required)
Licensure
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license for Texas
- NURSYS verification required for all RNs
Scheduling & Work Environment
- Dress code for licensed nursing personnel: solid navy blue uniforms or scrubs (print tops not allowed except in specific pediatric or women’s services units)
- Free parking available in unrestricted employee/visitor lots
Required Documentation & Compliance
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO, confirming ability to work and free of infectious disease
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months, updated annually
- Immunizations:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years or declination accepted)
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) – 2 vaccines or positive titer, boosters or declination accepted
- Hepatitis B vaccination series or signed declination
- Varicella – 2 vaccines or positive titer, boosters or declination accepted
- Seasonal Flu vaccine during flu season (declination accepted)
- COVID vaccination record preferred (declinations not required)
- 9 Panel Drug Screen within 12 months of start (instant tests acceptable with attestation)
- Respiratory Safety Clearance (RespSafety) required for travel candidates, medically cleared annually
- Background check within 90 days covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years, updated annually
- Education verification for nursing degree (international education requires diploma/transcript)
- Minimum of 2 professional references covering at least 1 year of employment in a comparable specialty/setting within the last 3 years
- Employment application covering at least last 5 years of employment with explanations for gaps or overlaps
- Skills checklist updated annually (if applicable)
Training & Competency Requirements
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (as applicable)
- Competency exams as required by specialty
- Color Blind Testing (if required by unit)
- Specialty-specific WorkRamp modules and annual regulatory training required prior to start and annually thereafter
- Epic training modules required for some regions and per diem staff (if applicable)

- Prior travel experience is not explicitly required for this position
- No 48-hour shifts approved
- Float policy acknowledgment required; candidate may be required to float to other nearby facilities within the system
