Description

Registered Nurse - Emergency Department

Location: Santa Fe, New Mexico
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: 3 PM – 3 AM (12-hour shifts, 3 days per week)
Start Date: ASAP


Job Summary

The Registered Nurse coordinates and implements patient care specific to the age and needs of the patient population on the assigned unit. Ensures quality, efficient, and safe care consistent with unit standards. Demonstrates professionalism, effective communication, and teamwork while supporting patients, families, physicians, and staff.


Responsibilities

  • Perform initial patient assessments and establish priorities based on age, symptoms, and psychosocial needs.
  • Systematically reassess patients to identify progress and intervene as needed.
  • Develop and implement individualized, measurable plans of care within established nursing standards.
  • Make comprehensive nursing decisions and modify care plans based on patient outcomes.
  • Participate in patient and family education and discharge planning.
  • Document timely interventions and evaluate the effectiveness of care plans.
  • Perform various Point of Care testing procedures.
  • Delegate and coordinate unit work assignments to ensure completion of patient care support activities.
  • Participate in orientation of new staff and students.
  • Serve as a resource to visitors, physicians, and staff, promoting a positive work environment.
  • Exhibit behaviors that promote patient satisfaction, respect for patient rights, and confidentiality.
  • Adapt to changes in work environment or schedule with flexibility and maintain a positive attitude during stressful periods.
  • Comply with all patient and environmental safety policies and procedures.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in New Mexico
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
  • Minimum 1 year of Emergency Department (ED) experience within the last year
  • BLS Certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • ACLS Certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • PALS Certification issued by the American Heart Association or ENPC
  • TNCC or ATCN certification
