Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - CVPICU

Shift Details

  • Day shift
  • 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 AM to 7:30 PM)
  • Total 36 hours per week

Requirements/Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in the Cardiovascular Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (CVPICU) within the last year
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Additional Certifications (may be required based on unit)

  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) (AHA only)
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) (AHA/AAP only, unit dependent)
  • Chemotherapy certification (unit dependent)
  • Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) Blue Card (unit dependent; training provided if needed)

Work Requirements

  • Weekend shifts required every other weekend
  • Floating to other units as needed
  • Orientation sessions held bi-weekly

Candidate Eligibility

  • First-time travelers are welcome
  • Local candidates within 75 miles are eligible

Documentation & Compliance Requirements

  • I-9 or attestation
  • Government-issued photo ID (driver’s license or state ID)
  • Social Security card (if used for I-9)
  • Background check within 90 days including:
    • SSN trace, county, alias, nationwide, sex offender, international (if applicable)
    • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks
  • Education verification and transcript/diploma as applicable
  • OFAC sanctions list search within 30 days of start
  • Physical exam within 12 months of start
  • Immunizations and health screenings:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine every 10 years (no exemptions)
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months
    • Measles, Mumps, Rubella vaccination or positive titer (no exemptions)
    • Hepatitis B titer, vaccine series, or declination
    • Varicella vaccination or positive titer
    • Seasonal flu vaccination (required annually, no exemptions)
    • Polio vaccine or signed attestation
  • Drug test: Negative 10-panel (including THC) within 30 days of start (no instant tests)
  • Two professional references from employment within last 12 months (one must be a supervisor)
  • Employment application with 7 years of work history
  • Annual skills checklist update
  • Competency exam specific to unit
  • Pass/fail testing on EKG/medication knowledge at orientation (except Hospice RNs, Medical Assistants, and RRTs)

Orientation & Onboarding

  • Candidates must set up a Guest Account prior to clearance to access orientation and work systems
  • Online modules must be completed before orientation
  • Competency checklists (CBOs) must be completed within 3 weeks after start date
  • First Day Instructions (FDI) provided prior to orientation week

This position offers a structured orientation and compliance process to ensure readiness and safety in a specialized pediatric cardiovascular intensive care environment.
