Job Opportunity: Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)

Location: Montclair, New Jersey
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Position Details

• Specialty: Respiratory / Neuro Diagnostics
• Shift: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (Day shift: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM)
• Weekend Coverage: Every 3rd weekend
• Call: 3 on-call shifts per schedule
• Local candidates within 50 miles are not accepted
• Unit accepts first-time travelers

Required Qualifications

• Valid Respiratory Therapist license in New Jersey
• Minimum 1 year of Respiratory Therapist experience within the last year
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

• Background Checks:

  • 7-year background check within 1 year of start, updated annually
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required upon hire
• Education Verification: Must verify highest level of education
• Work History Verification: 7 years required; NJ mandates minimum 1 year prior to start with no gaps over 30 days
• Employment Application/Resume required
• Unit-specific Skills Checklist required annually
• Photo for badge (clear headshot)

Health and Safety Requirements

• Physical Exam within 12 months of start
• Fit Mask Test within 1 year of start, must be renewed annually (specific approved mask types required)
• Immunizations/Vaccinations:

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap within 10 years (no declinations except approved medical exemptions)
  • Negative TB test (2-step PPD, QGOLD, or TSPOT) within 1 year; if positive, additional documentation required
  • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required; boosters required if titers negative or equivocal
  • Hepatitis B: Positive titer, series, or declination accepted; boosters accepted if titers negative or equivocal
  • Varicella: Positive titer, 2 vaccines, or physician-documented history of chickenpox required; boosters if titers negative or equivocal
  • Seasonal Flu Vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Oct 1 – Mar 31); declinations not accepted
• Negative 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start

Additional Notes

• Candidates must comply with all facility-specific onboarding and credentialing requirements
• Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement and HIPAA compliance required
• Candidates must be able to work scheduled shifts including weekends and on-call as outlined
• No local candidates accepted within a 50-mile radius
